Garden Design Process

At Jenny Noscoe Garden Design, we build close relationships with our clients, listening and understanding their needs and expectations.

Every garden design project is different, presenting a new set of challenges, whether from the existing landscape and or the client. Our aim is to always present a practical solution, without compromising the design.

Garden Design Consultation

This initial chargeable visit is to establish a brief for the design to be based upon. This will involve discussions about likely uses and function of the garden, likes and dislikes of the owner, restrictions due to soil type, orientation of the garden and weather conditions, and finally a preparation of a wish list of plants and features to be included.

We will discuss your budget and time scale. We offer advice on plants, pruning, soil etc if required. From this visit we will provide you with a written estimate for the planning work.

If you require general advice on garden design or horticulture, but a master plan is not needed a one off consultancy visit may be all you need. Charges for this type of visit will be based on time spent on site plus a contribution towards travel expenses, depending on distance from design office.

Site Survey and Analysis

Once the planning estimate has been accepted, the first objective is to carry out a site survey and analysis. We will take photos and measurements of the garden (in the case of larger projects a landscape survey will be required). Based on all this, we prepare a thorough design brief and site analysis.

Sketch designs

Once the design brief has been agreed, we will develop the concept design and produce a set of sketch designs for your new garden.

Preparation of Outline Garden Design Proposal

After an interim meeting to discuss the sketch designs we will draw up the agreed design to master plan stage.

Detailed Drawings and Specifications

To ensure that your new landscape and garden design meets the highest standards we will create construction drawings, planting plans and specifications. Furthermore we will show you material samples.

Tendering or Nomination

We will find a reliable contractor for you or manage the whole building process on your behalf. We have a select group of landscape contractors, water feature and lighting design specialists with whom we work to ensure the garden design process, from initial concept to project completion, is smooth and seamless.

Inspection and Site Visits

We will inspect the construction site and guide the contractor where guidance is needed. We will make sure everything is built according to plan.

Maintenance

To maintain your garden at the highest standard we offer a maintenance service. If you already have a gardener we can provide a maintenance schedule.
